CDS Board of Director’s Meeting
Jodi will attend this week in San Jose

Treasurer’s Report
Still need some quarterly data from 2001 that fell between the cracks when we changed Treasures. Alex tracked down most
of that data at the meeting and so nowthe 2001 and 2002 reports can be filed with CDS. This clears the way for getting CDS
recognition for this year’s Coastal Classic. 2002 show expenses were approximately $16,500 income  14,300 expenses for a
$2,300 profit. Alex will email detailed Treasurer’s Report to board members before next meeting, so we can
review in advance. Current balance is $4892 in checking, $2966 in money market.

Instructor Certification
Date for first clinic has been changed at Rachel Saveedra’s request, because of Easter. New dates are Friday April 18 and
Saturday April 19. Joan would like to have extra longe lines, whips, surcingles, etc available for lungeing clinic in July  contact
Joan if you can bring them.

Louise distributed flyers to be posted at local feed stores and barns. Faith will print copies of auditor sign up sheets and drop
off at General Feed.

Coastal Classic
Sponsorship  Jodi is coordinating sponsors, but since Tamara is producing the program, the advertising copy should be sent to
her. Jodi will change the sponsorship form with this information.

Manager  Debbie is still looking for an assistant show manager who will commit to managing the show in 2004. Debbie has
hired EMT (Ian Watts), and reserved stalls from Silver Bar Leasing. It was suggested that we have a primary and backup vet,
so Debbie will try to secure both. Mark Lorenz will be onsite farrier. There are several new photographers offering digital
photos that you can see and print before leaving showgrounds  Debbie will try to book one. Hardly anyone used video
service last year, so we will not offer this year. Louise is handling publicity.

Secretary  Anne bought the show management software. Needs an assistant with computer skills  Sue Locke volunteered. Liz
Searle is primary judge but still looking for a second judge for Sunday (r). Coleen Glass will be TD. Closing dates for quadrille
will be earlier to try to get the groups into the show before it fills.

Hospitality  Suggestion that we have silent auction or raffle. We do have a raffle for volunteers, but this could be expanded.
Several members who are involved in local wineries have expressed interest in manning a wine tasting booth. Potager Farms
vendor is interested in offering waffle breakfast, and may provide food service in exchange for a free booth.

Awards  Need to decide what high point awards we should offer  the current system has some overlap between FEI, AHSA,
Amateur, and Open. Need to decide if high points should be for both shows or one set for each. Need to schedule show so
that there can be an award presentation given by award donors.

Equine Emergency Report
Louise and Mika did some research and found that the Fairgrounds in Watsonville and the Graham Hill Showgrounds can be
used to house horses that have been evacuated. In a declared emergency, the Equine Evacuation Unit of the Office of
Emergency Services will help rescue and evacuate horses. Faith recently attended training for this unit. Louise suggested that
we gather information about this unit and other emergency tips (like what to keep on hand in your horse trailer) for our
new website  this would be a good service to our community. The Santa Cruz County Horseman’s Association is offering a
Horse Rescue class with Tim Collins at 7pm on May 20 at Graham Hill Showground.

Sporthorse Factory Tour
Will be planned at May meeting  date will change.

Announcements
Justine Wilson is offering a horse portrait in exchange for (the right) dressage saddle.
